Understanding a Budget

The National Foundation for Credit Counseling (NFCC) recently conducted a poll pertaining to financial literacy. Results revealed that 57% of respondents don't understand the purpose of a budget, viewing it as a restriction on spending. Rather, a budget often shows that you may have more money than you think due to smarter spending decisions.

Check out the NFCC website for more helpful information. Free budgeting materials are available as well to help you overcome budgeting misconceptions.

Most vehicles depreciate in value as soon as you drive off of the dealer's lot and it's not uncommon for you to have an outstanding loan balance that exceeds the vehicle's book value. If your car is totaled in an accident or it is stolen, the insurance settlement may not cover the full amount that is outstanding on your loan. In order to help you ease the financial burden if faced with this situation, Cornerstone FCU offers GAP Plus coverage for your auto loan.
