How should I endorse my checks for Mobile Deposit?

Endorse any item transmitted through Mobile Deposit with your signature and add the restrictive endorsement “For Mobile Deposit only, CornerStone Federal Credit Union”.

When will the funds from a Mobile Deposit be available?

If an image you transmit is received and accepted before 9:00 a.m. Eastern Time on a business day that we are open, we consider that day to be the day of your deposit and your deposit will be posted by 10:00 a.m. Eastern Time. If an image you transmit is received and accepted after 9:00 a.m. and before 2:00 p.m. Eastern Time on a business day that we are open, we consider that day to be the day of your deposit and your deposit will be posted prior to end of that business day (typically 4:00 p.m.). If an image you transmit is received and accepted after 2:00 p.m. Eastern Time on a business day that we are open, we consider that the deposit was made on the next business day that we are open and will be posted the next business day by 10:00 a.m. Eastern Time.

What should I do with the check(s) after the Mobile Deposit is complete?

You must securely store each original check for thirty (30) days after transmission. It is suggested that you file transmitted checks in a secure place to avoid duplicate transmission. After thirty days, you may destroy the check(s).

What is Same Day ACH?

Same Day ACH is a change approved by the NCUA and Federal Reserve to allow for more immediate processing of ACH transactions.

What is ACH?

ACH stands for Automated Clearing House. ACH transactions are electronic transactions (deposits or withdrawals) processed through the Automated Clearing House.

Does this affect only Cornerstone FCU?

No, this change affects all companies that accept or send ACH transactions.

When does this happen?

The first “phase” begins on September 23, 2016.

What exactly is changing?

With the first phase, we will be required to post ACH transactions three times each day. The first posting (by 8:30 a.m.) will contain both debits and credits (withdrawals and deposits, respectively). The second and third postings (by 1:00 p.m. and the credit union’s end of day, respectively) will include credits only.

What were the previous posting requirements?

ACH transactions that were received through 7:00 a.m. were required to be posted by 8:30 a.m. on their appropriate effective date.

When do other phases begin?

The second phase begins on September 15, 2017. The third phase will begin on March 16, 2018.

What happens during the other phases?

During phase two, both debits and credits can be processed on the same day. During phase three, institutions must post the final posting by 5:00 p.m. (phase 1 and phase 2 only stipulate “by the end of day”).

How is this going to change my account?

Instead of one ACH posting a day, we will process three. You may see additional ACH postings throughout the day if you have authorized ACH transactions on your account.

Does this mean that I will get my direct deposit sooner?

Possibly. We are required to post ACH transactions based on the effective date provided. Many times, ACH credits are sent to financial institutions days in advance of the effective date. We are not permitted to post the transaction until that effective date, regardless of when we receive the entry.

Can I refuse to allow Same Day ACH?

No, you cannot refuse Same Day ACH. The company initiating the entry may choose whether or not to process Same Day ACH. However, Cornerstone, the receiving company, is required to post transactions based upon the effective date on the entry.

Who can I call if I have additional questions?
